AI just got way more visual

Hey, itā€™s Brooks. Welcome to Mondays with Money Marketers, where Wall Street meets Madison Avenue.

As a quick reminder: Weā€™re an email marketing agency for financial service firms. We use email to drive leads, increase conversion rates, reduce churn, and boost your bottom line.

We taught ourselves how to do everything above by growing our own newsletter, The Street Sheet, from 5,000 subscribers to 160,000 subscribers (and counting).

We then took what we learned and started helping companies like J.P. Morgan, SoFi, Empower, Benzinga, and more with their email and content marketing.

Every Monday, we share tips and tricks weā€™ve learned that you can implement yourself.

Before we dive in, here's a link to my calendar if you'd like to discuss how we can help you generate more business.

šŸ“Š Picture This: How to Use ChatGPTā€™s New Image Generation Tool

Last week, OpenAI rolled out a major update to ChatGPTā€”and itā€™s one that financial firms should be paying attention to.

For the first time, you can now generate high-quality, realistic images inside ChatGPT using just a simple prompt. That includes infographicsā€”custom charts, visuals, and data visualizationsā€”that you can drop straight into your email newsletters, LinkedIn posts, X threads, Instagram stories, and more.

Iā€™ve been testing it, and the possibilities for client communication and prospect education are huge. Also, if you want, you can hop on the latest trend of turning images into ones that look like the Studio Ghibli style. I did it for my BC hockey classmates:

Whatā€™s new in ChatGPT?

The latest version of ChatGPT (using the GPT-4o model) can now create original imagesā€”charts, graphs, visuals, illustrationsā€”directly from your prompt. No need to use external tools like Canva or hire a designer. Just tell ChatGPT what you want to show, and it will generate it in seconds.

This is especially useful for financial advisors, and financial firms in general, who want to make their client content more visual and engaging, without spending hours formatting charts in PowerPoint or wrestling with templates.

Example: Letā€™s say you want to show what personal financial advisors do

Hereā€™s a prompt you could use in ChatGPT, I just copied and pasted the text and stats from the BLS site:

ChatGPT Prompt: Take this text and create an infographic. The color theme should be black and yellow:

What Personal Financial Advisors Do

Personal financial advisors provide advice to help individuals manage their money and plan for their financial future.

Work Environment

Most personal financial advisors work in the finance and insurance industry or are self-employed. They typically work full time, and some work more than 40 hours per week. They also may meet with clients in the evenings or on weekends.

How to Become a Personal Financial Advisor

Personal financial advisors typically need a bachelorā€™s degree to enter the occupation. A masterā€™s degree and certification may improve chances for advancement.

Pay

The median annual wage for personal financial advisors was $99,580 in May 2023.

Job Outlook

Employment of personal financial advisors is projected to grow 17 percent from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations.

About 27,000 openings for personal financial advisors are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.

Hereā€™s what it generated on the first try, not bad!

Where and how to share it

Once youā€™ve created your infographic, hereā€™s how Iā€™d recommend using it across your marketing channels:

  • Email Newsletters: Drop the infographic into your weekly or monthly client updates to visually explain an investing concept or market trend. People are more likely to engage when the message is visual, not just text.

  • LinkedIn: Turn the infographic into a carousel or a single-image post. Pair it with a short breakdown or a thought-provoking question to spark engagement with your network. Visuals stand out in the feed.

  • X (Twitter): Use the image as part of a threadā€”start with a tweet that teases the insight, follow it with the infographic, and end with a takeaway or call-to-action.

  • Instagram: Great for building brand presence with younger or more visual clients. Use your infographic in the main feed or split it into panels for a story sequence. Bonus points for adding commentary or voiceover if you post it as a reel.

  • Your Website or Blog: Embed the infographic in a blog post or as a downloadable resource for prospects. These kinds of visuals help build trust and showcase your ability to educate and simplify financial topics.

A few quick tips:

  1. Keep your prompts clear and specific.
ChatGPT is smart, but it needs direction. Tell it what title to use, what data to show, what colors to stick to, and how you want the design to feel.

  2. Always run it by compliance.
Infographics that mention performance, asset classes, or strategies still need to follow your firmā€™s rules. Think of this as a creative toolā€”not a free pass on disclosures.

  3. Use visuals as a gateway.
Donā€™t just post the infographicā€”add context, insights, or a short story that connects the visual to your audienceā€™s real-world concerns. Thatā€™s where the trust is built.

Final thoughts

This is just the beginning. The fact that you can now create high-quality, branded visuals in seconds means your content can stand out in a crowded spaceā€”without a big budget or design team.

I believe the advisors who embrace these tools early will gain an edge when it comes to educating, engaging, and ultimately growing their client base.
